Look and Feel
Artefacts: Vault of Fortune is an online slot release from Yggdrasil gaming, fresh for July 2020. This game has three rows, five reels and a host of interesting features. There’s a kind of treasure hunting vibe about this slot, as the ‘artefacts’ in question are all classic treasures from history, including a Fabergé egg, a British crown and a Chinese urn. Did you know that anything can be an artefact, as long as it made by human hand? The word has simply come to mean something valuable and of archaeological interest. The term ‘artefact’ comes from the Latin ‘arte factum’ which means ‘to make something using skill’ … a bit like Yggdrasil’s slot developers! Let’s see if they’ve maintained their usual high standards with this new slot.
This game does not come with a progressive jackpot. The maximum amount you can win is 11,000 times your stake, which surely is a prize worth winning!
Play for Real Money
You will not be able to play Artefacts: Vault of Fortune for play money because of the regulations set in place by the UKGC. You can play this game for real money though at plenty of places, including the William Hill Casino. This brand is backed by a very famous UK name of course, with a sports book attached. Why not take a peep and see what bonuses the site has on offer?
Your first step in playing Artefacts: Vault of Fortune is to choose your bet size. Your coin size can be anything from £0.005 to £5.00. As there are twenty paylines, it costs 20 coins per spin.
Wins involve landing three or more identical symbols on a payline from the left-hand reel onwards. All wins are paid as coins, in line with the table below:
|Symbol||3 on a payline||4 on a payline||5 on a payline|
Upon each win, all winning symbols are removed from the reels and new ones drop down to replace them. This may trigger a new win, and such dropdowns continue until no new wins are secured.
There’s a win multiplier too that commences at x1 and will increase by one each time a successive dropdown win is achieved. When dropdown wins end, the multiplier is reset to x1.
This game has a wild symbol that substitutes for all other symbols aside from the scatter symbol. All wilds that land expand to six symbols high. The three wilds above the playing area only come into play if the wilds below them are involved in dropdown wins and disappear off of the reels.
A codex acts as the scatter symbol in this slot. You need to land at least three scatters to earn yourself eight free spins. Four scatters will treat you to a dozen free spins, and five scatters will earn you the maximum of twenty free spins. During free spins (which can be retriggered) the dropdown win multiplier only resets at the end of free spins, not when dropdown wins end.
Graphics and Sounds
The graphics used in this game are nice enough, but they are not quite up to Yggdrasil’s standards, as the playing arena is completely static aside from the symbols themselves. We do like the way the symbols bounce as they fall into place, and that the first symbol to fly through the screen is usually not the first symbol to land (you’ll see what we mean when you play this game).
The music is a bit mundane too. It’s the kind of incidental music used to create a sort of curious, creepy feel but not in a scary way. It kind of put us in a ‘Scooby Doo’ frame of mind – when Scooby and Shaggy are looking around the haunted museum, just before they run through the same corridors of doors one hundred times in a row.
Yggdrasil Gaming have produced so many decent new online slots in 2020 that it was inevitable that they would eventually come up with a bit of a clunker. There’s nothing utterly wrong about Artefacts: Vault of Fortune, but there’s nothing evidently right about it, either. All the themes contained within this game have been seen before, plain and simple.
But! You may not agree with us! Make up your own mind about Artefacts: Vault of Fortune by playing it at one of our many recommended online casinos.
A. Sure! We really do love (most) Yggdrasil’s games. We recommend that you try their recent releases such as Wild Pops, Lukcy Neko Gigabloz, Arthur’s Fortune or Neon Rush, all great games!
A. Yep. We can confirm that Artefacts: Vault of Fortune is completely playable on all mobile devices, be they powered by iOS or Android.
A. Yggdrasil is the name of an immense, mythical tree in Norse mythology. It is pronounced Igg-dra-sil.
