Look and Feel
Artemis v Medusa is not a Greek footballing fixture, but a summer 2020 online slot game release from Quickspin. Before we commence out Artemis v Medusa review, a bit of background info. Most people will have heard of Medusa. She was a lady for whom every day was a bad hair day as her hair was made from snakes. She only had to glance once in your direction, and you would turn into stone – quite literally!
As for Artemis, she was the daughter of Zeus and Leto in Greek mythology, and the twin sister of hero Apollo. She never married and could both inflict disease on people who peed her off and cure them too. In the myths of Greece Artemis and Medusa never met, but now they do face off courtesy of this online slot from Quickspin!
The first aspect of this game that may turn you into stone is the fact that it is without a progressive jackpot. Nevertheless you can still win a decent amount if you are fortunate enough – up to 5,286 times your stake.
Play for Real Money
Alas! The Medusa-like fiends at the UKGC have decreed that ALL slots at casinos with UKGC licences cannot be played for free, or for play money. You still of course can play this slot for real money at plenty of places. One of the best, we here at Just Slots feel is Slots Million. This site does not actually have a million slots, but it has over 2,000 plus some pleasing bonus offers, so go check them out!
To commence this ancient battle you need to first select your bet size. This can be easily done and the range of values is from £0.20 all the way up to £100.00. This is a ‘bet way wins’ slot (which is another way of saying ‘all ways pay’) with 1,024 potential paylines. Each spin of the reels will cost you 20 coins.
Wins are landed with identical symbols on adjacent paylines, commencing from the leftmost reel. You need to land at least three to score a win, and the position of each contributing symbol upon each reel is immaterial. Wins are paid in coins in line with the table below:
|Symbol||3 on a payline||4 on a payline||5 on a payline|
Watch out for Monster Bounty coins in this game. These can appear anywhere on any non-diamond symbol. They also only appear in the base game.
Another feature to watch out for is the Artemis Golden Frame. In the base game this frame will only appear on the right-hand reel. If an Artemis symbol with a golden frame lands on the final reel any Monster Bounty coins present on the reels will be collected and a bonus bounty payment will be paid. This is 300 coins for Medusa, 160 for the Minotaur, 80 for the Griffin and 40 for the … er … Parrot Lady.
There are bonus scatter symbols in this game too. They appear in the base game only and are present on the middle three reels. If you land three bonus scatter symbols on the reels at the same time you will trigger unlimited ‘Battle Free Spins’. These spins will trigger a battle between Artemis and Medusa, and will continue until either Artemis or Medusa win the battle.
The Golden Antler symbol acts as the wild symbol here. It will substitute for all other symbols aside from the bonus scatter symbols.
Graphics and Sounds
The music and sounds chosen for this game are largely just what you’d imagine them to be. The sound accompaniment is an epic, orchestral theme fit for any kind of godly encounter. It’s unobtrusive enough and accompanied by stabs and trills when you land a win, but if you find it annoying you can swiftly mute it.
Graphically we have to say that this game is not up to the standards we’ve come to expect from Quickspin. The playing arena is static aside from the spinning reels, and the symbols just shine gold when you land a win. We would have liked to see something more likely to hold our attention.
The best thing that can we say about Artemis v Medusa when comparing it to other new online slots in 2020 is that it’s a decent-enough game, but we expected something a little bit better. There’s nothing wrong with it (there is seldom anything wrong with Quickspin’s slots) and it has some nice features, but slots like this are beginning to look a little dated.
If you fancy watching an epic battle between Artemis and Medusa why not take this slot for several spins at one of JustSlots many recommended casinos?
A. We surely can! Greek mythology has provide the theme for Greek Gods by Pragmatic Play and several slots based on Zeus from WMS (now part of SG Digital). There’s also the entire Age of Gods series from Playtech in which one of the titles is Medusa and Monsters!
A. We really liked Vampire Senpai and Nero’s Fortune, both released in 2020. Other top slots from them include Diamond Duke and Arcane Gems, and look out for Hammer of Vulcan, due for release in October this year.
A. Yep! The Artemis v Medusa online slot has been created using HTML5, which means it will work on all iOS or Android-powered mobile devices.
