Blood Lust Review

Look and Feel

Blood Lust is an epic, gothic-style slot new for April 2020 from ELK Studios. If you haven’t guessed already via the title of this slot, then we can tell you that this slot’s theme is a common one among the best online video slots – vampires! Vampires have been sucking the blood out of people for centuries – even longer than tax inspectors!

This ELK Studios slot surely has enough features to get your blood racing, or to get your teeth (or should that be fangs?) into. If you want to learn more about the Blood Lust video slot, then keep on reading, and have some garlic to hand!

Jackpot

This game does not have a progressive jackpot. You can still win a tidy sum, though, up to a maximum of 250,000. As the maximum coin size is £1.00, the max payout that can be awarded is therefore £250,000.

Play for Real Money

There are plenty of places that you can play Blood Lust for real money. If you’d prefer to play ‘Blood Lust’ for fun and you are based in the UK then we have some bad news for you – due to UKGC restrictions you’re unlikely to be able to play for free. Why not give Blood Lust a real money spin at Guts Casino? If this is a new casino to you then don’t forget to check to see if there’s a tasty welcome bonus available to claim!

Rules

Blood Lust has 5 reels, 3 rows and a fixed number of 99 paylines. You play each spin of this online video slot with a ‘total bet’ amount from £0.20 to £100.00. Each spin costs 100 coins, so your coin size is actually anything from £0.002 to £1.00.

The ‘WILD’ symbol in this game is – obviously – wild and substitutes for all other symbols aside from the bonus and re-spin symbols.

The ‘BONUS’ symbol is a scatter symbol and landing three anywhere on the reels awards you the bonus game.

Wins are scored by landing a minimum of three identical symbols on a payline from the left-hand reel onwards. All wins are paid as a multiple of your coin size, as follows:

If the ‘RESPIN’ symbol lands on reel five then you gain one boosted re-spin. A random symbol is chosen, and all examples of that symbol remain on the reels from the re-spin, as well as any bonus scatters.

All reels contain a stack of identical symbols. Random symbols fill these stacks at the start of every spin. Different reels may have different stacked symbols.

If you earn the bonus game then you gain yourself a number of free spins. The positions of the bonus symbols on the grid are used to create a rectangle, and the number of symbols within that rectangle are counted to determine how many free spins you are awarded. During free spins all vampire symbols are counted, and they fill up each specific vampire meter. If any meter fills completely the relevant symbol changes into the Dracula symbol and remains so for the rest of the free spins. One additional free spin is also awarded.

There are four automated betting strategies you can use while playing this game:

  • Optimizer: bets a selected percentage of your remaining balance
  • Leveller: raises your bet two levels after five consecutive losses; resets after a win.
  • Booster: raises your bet one level after a loss up to four levels; resets after a win.
  • Jumper: raises your bet one level after a win up to four levels; resets after a loss.

Here at JustSlots we recommend that you do not use these strategies unless you are one hundred percent confident that you know what you are doing.

Graphics and Sounds

Graphically, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this game, but we do have to say that the images used remind us a little too closely of a very famous ‘gothic vampire’ game and indeed the very best game of the genre – Immortal Romance by Microgaming. There’s nothing wrong with one slot ‘playing tribute’ to another of course, but we do feel it would have been better if Blood Lust had done a little more to forge its own identity.

The graphics are excellent though, with nice effects and explosions of golden coins all over the shop should you secure yourself an epic win.

When it comes to the audio, the whole game is played against the gloomy notes of a suitable piano-led tune. The rest of the sounds used are as you would expect, from the thumping reels to fanfares when you win.

Conclusion

Unfortunately the ‘base’ gameplay of ‘Blood Lust’ is a little mundane, but conversely all hell breaks loose when you land the bonus game, which is genuinely exciting. If you do manage to mutate all the vampire symbols into Mr Dracula it’s thrilling to see the whole screen light up with him to score you a big win. You may have to ‘endure’ many spins of the base game to get that far, though!

For your next gothic adventure, why don’t you load up on crosses and garlic and treat yourself to a few spins of ‘Blood Lust’ at one of our recommended online casinos?
