Cat Wilde & the Doom of Dead Review

Look and Feel

Cat Wilde & the Doom of Dead is a five-reel, three row online slot with ten paylines from Play’n GO. Those prolific slots munchkins at Play’n GO have been at it again! This Swedish company tasked themselves with releasing a new slot every week in 2020, and so far they’ve certainly kept the pace. They’ve really fooled us this time – the news leaked some time ago that they were releasing a slot called Doom of Dead, but they didn’t let on it was starring Cat ‘daughter of Rich’ Wilde! The latest member of the Wilde familiar is now flying solo within the slotting world with her very own online slots game!

Cat Wilde may be hunting for riches in this game, but if you are hunting for a slot with a progressive jackpot then you are going to need to look elsewhere as this game is not in possession of one. You can still win a treasured amount though – up to £500,000! Note that some casinos may further limit the maximum amount you can win from this slot.

Play for Real Money

You’ll be hard pressed to find an online casino in the UK that will allow you to play Cat Wilde & the Doom of Dead for play money, or for free, due to UKGC regulations. There are countless places to play this slot for real cash though, including Playojo. This site really is one of our favourites and comes with some great offers so make sure that you check them out.

To set the lovely Cat off on her latest adventure, you need to select this size of your bet. This is a ‘single bet’ game as opposed to coin size, Your bet can be anything from £0.10 to £100.00 and each spin of the reels costs ten coins.

Wins are secured in the usual way, by landing two or more identical symbols in sequence from the left-hand reel onwards. Wins are paid as coins, as the following table displays:

Symbol2 on a payline3 on a payline4 on a payline5 on a payline
Cat Wilde325751,000

There are five different wilds in this game (all gloriously bedecked mummies) but they all perform the same function in substituting for all other symbols aside from the scatters. Landing five wilds on the reels will also pay you 1,000 coins. One more thing we should mention – all wilds are expanding wilds and when they land they grow bigger until they are covering the entire reel.

A golden compass acts as a scatter symbol in this game and landing three or more anywhere on the reels will land you a prize worth 20 coins plus the free spins bonus round. During free spins a special expanding symbol is chosen at random with the hope that it will win you more. Every time that this symbol lands during the game it will expand to cover the entire reel.

During free spins any wild that substitutes for a special expanding symbol only counts if the special expanding symbol contributes part of a win. If you land a further three or more scatters during your free spins then you are awarded a further ten free spins.

That’s about as far as it goes when it comes to special features in this game.

Graphics and Sounds

If you’ve played the original title in this series – Rich Wilde & the Book of Dead – or its sequel Rich Wilde & the Shield of Athena then the look and feel of this game should come as absolutely no surprise to you. Some may say that this slot looks a little too old-fashioned but it’s the appearance that Play n’ GO have stuck with for all the games in this series so far so they are hardly likely to detract from it. The best thing that can be said is that the slot’s appearance gets the job done and doesn’t detract at all from the gameplay.

Exactly the same can be said about the music and sounds used. The music is exactly the kind of ‘thrilling’ orchestral piece you would expect to hear during any slot of this particular ilk. Again, the best that can be said is that it gets the job done.

Rich Wilde & the Book of Dead swiftly became one of the most popular slots (if not the most popular ever released) by Play’n GO, and we can think of no reason why Cat Wilde & the Doom of Dead will not become as popular. Some critics might say that the gameplay within this slot is a little too simplistic, but that’s what makes it appealing. You can chill with a few spins of this game at any time without taxing the old grey matter too greatly.
