Look and Feel
Ghost Glyph is a new online slot game from underrated (in our opinion anyway) software developers Quickspin. Like more and more online slots developers these days, Quickspin seem to be taking the ‘cluster pays’ approach to their games, and Ghost Glyph is a new one to the cluster pays arena. Here the symbols are arranged in a 7×7 pattern and clusters of the same symbol triggers a win as opposed to identical symbol lines on paylines.
For those not in the know (which included us before we looked it up) a ‘glyph’ is ‘the specific shape, design or representation of a character’. So, basically they are a symbol that represents something, a bit like an emoji. The glyphs in this game are symbols used to represent ghosts, we guess.
It’s certainly an unusual slot with a spooky feel and theme. Read on to discover how we feel about Ghost Glyph, an online slot game from Quickspin.
The spookiest thing about this game is probably the lack of a progressive jackpot. The most you can win if the spooky symbols land right for you is 2,260 times the size of your bet.
Play for Real Money
You will not be able to play Ghost Glyph for play money or for free if you are within the jurisdiction of the UKGC, which is the entirety of the United Kingdom. There are though several online casinos with Quickspin titles that we here like at JustSlots, including Dunder Casino. This site has plenty of excellent titles, plus countless offers too, so go check them out!
It’s just one fee per ‘spin’ to play this online slots game, and that fee can be anything from £0.20 all the way up to £100.00. Each spin costs twenty coins. When you’ve chosen your total bet, just click the spin button to set the game off. All the symbols will tumble from the reels and 49 new ones will pop in to replace them.
Wins are scored by landing clusters. A cluster is a group of symbols that touch each other, either horizontally or vertically. A cluster must contain at least five identical symbols in order to land a cash prize.
This game has a wild symbol which substitutes for all other symbols except for the ghost glyph symbol.
A ghost glyph is created within every winning cluster and turns into a wild. If it triggers another win then a ghost urn is activated by the ghost glyph payout. There are four types, blue, red, yellow and green:
- Red: A red ghost will select a non-gem (low paying) symbol at random and remove it from the reels (all occurrences).
- Green: A green ghost will select a non-gem (low paying) symbol at random and replace it with a different one (all occurrences).
- Yellow: A yellow ghost will create between four and ten wilds that are then placed upon the reels.
- Blue: The blue ghost will activate the bonus feature. You are awarded eight free spins and then every blue ghost that appears during free spins will add a further three free spins.
All wins in Ghost Glyph are tumble wins. All symbols in a win fall from the playing arena and new ones pop down to replace them. Each tumble win will increase the gauge of the ‘paranormality meter’. It takes eight consecutive tumble wins to completely fill the meter. When the meter is full the ‘massive wild’ feature is triggered. Massive wilds, when they appear, will shuffle across the screen during re-spins or free spins until they fall off.
Two 2×2 Haunted Wilds will spawn on the screen. If you re-active the paranormality meter again during free spins then one 3×3 Colossal Wild will appear on the screen. Each re-trigger will increase the number of shuffles the wild performs before it moves off of the screen.
Graphics and Sounds
This game is played along with an odd little spooky tune. It’s pitched at just the right level as it is not memorable enough to be annoying. The rest of the sounds are the usual tumbling sounds of the reels, plus effects when ghost glyphs are created, and ghost urns are opened.
When it comes to the graphics the look and feel of the game is well up to the standards that Quickspin have achieved with many of their slots recently. We especially like it when a ghost urn opens, a ghost pops out and does what it needs to do to the reels. All very nice if you like slots with eye candy!
The graphics and sounds are even better during free spins!
We seem to be reviewing as many new online slots for 2020 that are cascading, cluster pays slots as opposed to standard ones with five reels and three rows. If you prefer cluster pays slots (and we do) then 2020 has been something of a bonanza for you!
Also, if your prefer cluster pays slots then we can guarantee that you will like Ghost Glyph. This is an awesome example of a cluster pays slot with multiple features. Like the best online slots it rewards extended play and once the bonus feature is trigger, the games takes on a different dimension.
We advise you to get spooky with Ghost Glyph at one of our countless recommended online casinos.
A. We’ve really been impressed by Quickspin’s output in 2020. Along with Ghost Glyph we can give a thumbs up to Hammer of Vulcan, Artemis v Medusa, Vampire Senpai and Nero’s Fortune.
A. It won’t surprise you to learn that like many online slots development companies (NetEnt, Play’n GO, ELK Studio) Quickspin are based in Sweden.
A. Yes, you can play Ghost Glyph on your iPhone, iPad or Android-powered device, just like any of Quickspin’s games.
