Look and Feel
Hades Gigablox is an October 2020 online slot game release from Yggdrasil Gaming. Like many a slot game before it (and, in all likelihood, many a slot game after it) Yggdrasil have taken a demonic theme to their latest slotting release. Many people seem to think that Hades is a place, but actually Hades was originally the ancient Greek god of the dead and the king of the underworld. Over time ‘Hades’ has become known as the name for the ancient Greek underworld and the name was adopted by various Christian groups as an alternative name for Hell.
This super-sized slot is the latest in Yggdrasil Gaming’s ‘Gigablox’ series, following on from Lucky Neko Gigablox. It’s kind of similar to Big Time Gaming’s Megaways series in that the number of symbols on the reels with each spin is random, but here the randomness is that ‘Gigablox’ appear on the reels – these are large-scale symbols, 2×2, 3×3 and 4×4 and so on. The big symbols act as normal-sized symbols all of the same kind, if you see what we mean. If you don’t then all will become clear when you play this slot!
You are going to be in for a hellish disappointment if you play this slot hoping for a progressive jackpot win as the slot does not have one. You may still win a good-sized amount if you are fortunate enough, though – up to 11,129 times the size of your bet.
Play for Real Money
Speaking of hellish minions, the demons at the UKGC have decreed that this slot cannot be played for free or for play money in the UK. You can though of course play at plenty of places for real cash. These places include one of our most well-thought-of sites, SlotsMillion. This site has plenty of games (but not a million) plus a load of super offers too, so why not go pay them a visit?
Your descent into hell starts when you choose your bet size or coin value. Your coin value can be as small as £0.002 and as high as £2. There are 50 paylines (fixed), so you pay one coin per payline.
This is a super-sized slot with six rows and six columns but wins are landed in the normal way – consecutive identical symbols from left-to-right starting from the first reel. Wins are paid as coins, as indicated in the table below:
|Symbol||3 on a payline||4 on a payline||5 on a payline||6 on a payline|
As mentioned, symbols in this game come in all dimensions, from 1×1 to 6×6.
Occasionally in this game Hades will grow a little bored and fight the monster/demon symbols. During free spins this happens on every spin. If he defeats the demon within the block, then that block turns completely wild. Wilds do not land during normal play – they can only be created by Hades defeating a demon.
Look out for scatters on the reels – if you land five of them you will trigger free spins. You are awarded as many free spins as scatters you land on the triggering spin. Every scatter symbol that you land during free spins will add one to your free spin total.
Free spins also come with an increasing multiplier. Every time Hades defeats a monster during free spins one point will be added to the multiplier. You need ten Hades wins for a 2x multiplier, 15 for 3x, 20 for 5x and 25 for 10x. Every time you increase the multiplier two more free spins are added to your total.
Graphics and Sounds
We are always impressed by the standards of the graphics in Yggdrasil’s games and this title is absolutely no exception. Indeed, some of the symbols are so scary-looking here they are genuinely frightening. Hades himself stands at the edge of the reels with a ball of blue flame on the palm of his hand ready to do battle.
The music … we are less than impressed with. It’s a generic rock-theme … the best that can be said about it is that it soon fades into the background. The rest of the sounds used are typical for a slot, although Hades does make the odd comment – “so close!” and like, and oddly in an American accent! He also says “Oohw” a lot, which gets annoying.
So, how does Gigablox stack up against other concept slots, such as Megaways? We did really like Lucky Neko Gigablox, but when it comes to new online slots in 2020, we are not so impressed with this one. The lack of wilds on the reels is a real miss, and Hades hardly ever seems to do battle with the reel demons in order to create them. This just seems to result in long streams of non-winning spins.
To us, a bit of a let-down, but you might arrive at a different opinion. Why not take Hades Gigablox for a hellish spin or two at one of our many recommended casinos?
A. This is actually only the second Gigablox slot released by them. The other, as has been mentioned several times, is Lucky Neko Gigablox.
A. No doubt, Yggdrasil Gaming will release a fairly regular list of slots in the Gigablox series. We don’t though have any exact details of the titles they intend to release.
A. In 2020 we can recommend to you Valley of the Gods, Vikings Go Bezerk, Holmes & the Stolen Stones, Golden Fish Tank and Champions of Rome.
