Lucky Neko Gigablox Review

Look and Feel

Lucky Neko Gigablox is a ‘sort of’ six-reel, four row online slot from Yggdrasil Gaming featuring 40 paylines during the base game and 85 paylines during free spins. This is the first game from Yggdrasil that we’ve seen with the ‘Gigablox’ feature, we which are guessing has been ‘inspired’ by Big Time Gaming’s wildly successful Megaways idea. The reels still roll, but the size of the symbols – or blocks – as the reels land is entirely random and they can be anything in size from the normal 1×1 up to a ‘giga’ 6×6. All giga symbols act as the same symbol, so a 6×6 block acts as 36 identical symbols. Note that the 5×5 and 6×6 gigablox only appear during free spins. In normal play the maximum size of a block is 4×4.

And, just in case you were wondering, ‘neko’ is Japanese for cat! Read on if you want to find out just how purr-fect a game Lucky Neko Gigablox actually is.

Jackpot

This game does not come with any kind of progressive jackpot attached but if Lucky Neko waves his magic paw at you, you could come away from this slot with the maximum win available, namely £695,300. Meow!

Play for Real Money

Because of UKGC regulations you are unlikely, in the UK, to be able to play this online slot for real money. Some casinos may allow it if you have managed to prove that you are over the age of 18. There are plenty of fine places that you can play for real money though, including VideoSlots. This slotting palace has an unbelievable gaming section coupled with some nifty bonus offers, and it always gets a firm thumbs up from us.

Rules

Sadly, you do not get nine lives with this slot, and you begin your one life by selecting your coin size – which can be anything from a tiny £0.002 up to £2.50. Every spin costs 40 coins, so your total bet range is from £0.08 to £100.00.

Despite this slot’s unusual set up wins are paid in the normal way – three or more identical symbols on an active payline from the left-hand reel onwards. Wins are paid as coins, in line with the table below:

Symbol3 on a payline4 on a payline5 on a payline6 on a payline
Red1560140320
Gold1550100220
Blue (Green)103580200
Purple103580200
Heart51030100

Diamond51030100

You need to land a minimum of five ‘Lucky Neko’ free spin symbols anywhere on the reels in order to trigger free spins. The number of Lucky Neko symbols you land dictates how many free spins you are awarded. Every Lucky Neko symbol you land during your free spins will add a further free spin to your free spin pot.

During the free spins round three extra rows are added to the top of the playing grid, maxing it out at 8 rows and 6 reels. As previously mentioned, the maximum Gigablox size expands too, to 6×6.

There is a ‘Blessed’ symbol in this game, or at least during free spins. In every free spin one random symbol becomes a ‘blessed’ symbol. All wins that now contain a blessed symbol have a x5 multiplier assigned to them.

A golden cat is the wild symbol in Lucky Neko Gigablox. This golden cat substitutes for all other symbols aside from the Lucky Neko and Blessed symbols.

Graphics and Sounds

When you enter the realm of Lucky Neko you enter what looks to be a very traditional-looking Japanese shop – the wooden doors slide open and your entry is permitted. It’s a very nice touch and a perfect example of the attention to detail typically prevalent in any kind of slot pieced together by Yggdrasil. The entire look and feel of the game is just superb – the ‘reels’ or ‘blocks’ spin around (with some speed we have to point out) with force and thump into place within a wooden frame and as they do so the rest of the items on the shop shelves jiggle about. It really does look the business and we do wish all slots providers would add these nice little touches to the overall slotting experience.

When the blocks trigger a win they bounce around even more and explode into flames with the value of your win popping up in the middle of the screen.

The game is played along with a suitable soundtrack that adds even more to the slot, along with the thumps and crashes of the blocks as they fall into place.

Conclusion

Lucky Neko Gigablox is certainly one of the best-looking and best-sounding slots we’ve seen so far in 2020 – so good looking in fact that we are going to ignore the truth that it plays homage perhaps a little too closely to Big Time Gaming’s Megaways concept!

We really do recommend that you try a few spins of Lucky Neko Gigablox at one of JustSlots’ many recommended online casino and slots sites.
