Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior Review

Look and Feel

Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior is a 5 reel, 5 row slot from NetEnt. If you remember the original Street Fighter game coming out, then you are most definitely now in your 40s! The original game came out in 1987, and the improved sequel in 1991. It became one of the highest-grossing video games of all time. Gameplay was a two-player spectacle (which was quite innovative at the time) in which pixelated fighters would do one-on-one combat with each other in order to prove who was the best.

Jackpot

This game does not have a progressive jackpot attached. You can still win amounts to make playing this game worthwhile, though.

Play for Real Money

You will not find Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior available for free play anywhere in the UK, due to UKGC regulations. There are plenty of places to play this game for real money though, as the vast majority of casino sites carry NetEnt’s games. One choice place is Kaiser Slots which is a site we here at JustSlots adore. Check out Kaiser Slots’ latest bonus offers when you register!

Rules

Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior is genuinely a slot like no other. We’re going to do our best to explain the rules to you.

The easiest rule is to select your coin size, which can be anything from £0.01 to £35.00. Each round of play costs twenty coins.

Before play commences you need to select your own personal street fighter from the eight available. Some characters win often but in small amounts. Others win big but not frequently. All have special, unique features.

Hit spin to start the game. This slot has five reels and five rows. You land wins by creating clusters of symbols – four or more symbols that are adjacent to each other. Only eight symbols will be on the reels – two for your character (win and lose), two for your random opponent (win and lose) and playing card symbols jack through to ace. All wins are cascading wins.

Payments for landing clusters are as follows in coins:

SymbolNumber of symbols on a payline
45678910111213141516
Win101520406080100150200250300400600

AKQJ5710121520406080100120150200

Above each character you will see a ‘damage meter’. If you land your own symbols (win or lose) then your opponent’s damage meter is reduced. If you land your opponent’s symbols (again, win or lose). If your damage meter drops to zero you trigger the ‘Car Smash’ bonus game. If your opponent’s meter drops to zero you trigger ‘Beat the Boss’ free spins.

Some symbols will appear as 2×2 clusters which automatically trigger a win.

Your character also has a ‘wild gauge’. Every winning symbol that is not a playing card value adds to the wild gauge, including during cascade wins. You need to land seven winning symbols to fill the wild gauge and trigger your character’s ‘Wild Combo’ feature. Wilds can also appear anywhere to add to wins and your wild gauge.

There are four rounds to the ‘Beat the Boss’ round each with an increasing win multiplier (x2, x3, x5 and x10). If you complete all four rounds you win a jackpot of 100 times your bet. This feature is played in the same way as the main game, although all rounds are free. Once the feature ends you can take your winnings or gamble by restarting your last battle.

During the Car Smash Bonus game you get to control your character! You must smash a car to smithereens before the bonus game ends. If you do so you are awarded a random win of between 5 and 15 times your bet.

Graphics and Sounds

All the graphics used in this game could well have been lifted from the original version of Street Figher 2 itself! It’s all 16-bit graphics in an authentic arcade style. It really is entertaining to see the characters do battle, even though they appear to be fighting against the reels as opposed to each other. Don’t forget that you can restart the game at any time in order to see the full range of characters as they all have their own specific special abilities.

The music is performed in a 16-bit style as well. There are countless locations, and all come with their own soundtrack. All fighters make suitable grunts and groans too.

Conclusion

Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior is one of the most entertaining slots we come across so far in 2020. The rendering of an authentic title from the 90s could not have been achieved any better and who doesn’t love the idea of smashing an expensive car up for profit? An excellent title with multiple features from NetEnt that deserves to be played at any of JustSlots’ catalogue of recommended casinos.
