Who is Entropay?
Entropay was a popular and unique payment method that called itself the ‘virtual Visa card.’ However, it is important to note that it did not have any affiliation with the company Visa and it is completely independent of them. It was launched back in 2003 and came a long way over the years in providing good payment services.
Entropay recently announced that it would be withdrawing its services from all countries out with the European Economic Area and Norway. This was due to Visa implementing new restrictions which meant Entropay could not legally offer and carry out their services in these countries any longer. However, since then the company has had more issue and has stopped providing its services altogether. If you visit the Entropay website, it states that it has ceased providing its service from the 1st July 2019 and that they have terminated their agreement with their users. Players who previously had an account with Entropay will no longer have access to it and if you need to make a withdrawal of cash from your account you will need to contact the team at [email protected] This has to be done before the 1st July 2025.
Although this has been devastating for the company, it is important to note that this payment option was incredibly popular amongst players and will be missed by many when making deposits and withdrawals from their online casino account.
How to use Entropay to fund your online slots account?
Entropay online casinos were easy to fund and it did not take you long to fund your account and get started playing all your favourite online slot games. Firstly, you had to choose an online casino that offered Entropay as a payment option. Here at Just Slots, we were happy to recommend fantastic Entropay casinos that we thought you would love. Now, you can check out a wide range of other casino recommendations from us that offer very similar services to Entropay.
To start off, you would visit the Entropay website and sign up for an account. This would not take you long and here you could transfer money from your bank account into your online casino account.
When using Entropay to make a deposit, you had to choose Entropay as your depositing payment method. You would then be transferred to a form where you would enter how much exactly you wanted to deposit, your name, the number on your Entropay card, the expiry date and the 3 digit security code. Sound familiar? This is because it worked almost exactly in the same way as a debit would. After confirming that these details were correct, the money would be transferred from Entropay into your online casino account.
You could make withdrawals in exactly the same way. Choose Entropay as your withdrawal method, how much you want to cash out, and this would then be transferred back to your Entropay account.
Pros and cons of Entropay
- It was widely accepted as you could use it at any online casino that accepts Visa.
- Using Entropay kept your sensitive banking information safe and secure and minimised your risk when depositing online
- It worked as both a pre-paid card and an e-wallet
- You could also make withdrawals using Entropay, which is something that many other similar payment services such as Paysafecard, do not offer
- You got all of the benefits of using Visa but without the same security check hassles
- While there was no charge to use Entropay to make deposits in to your online casino account, there was a fee charge from the payment system provider to withdraw your winnings and transfer this from your online casino account to your Entropay account.
- You had to be regularly using your Entropay account. If it was inactive for more than 6 months you would be charged a fee of £2.50 per month.
Of course, the biggest negative now is that Entropay is no longer an option for those who wanted to try it out.
How does it measure up?
Entropay was a very popular option in the countries which it operated in and was the first choice of payment method for many players. It was a fantastic system to ensure that your personal banking details were kept safe and secure and by using it you massively reduced the risk of fraud. Players also enjoyed that this payment method allowed them to make withdrawals and that they got all the benefits of using a Visa card but did not have to deal with the same annoying security checks.
However, as we have previously mentioned, from July 2019 the company closed down. From December 2019 they began to shut down and place restrictions on what their users could do with their accounts. They froze new registrations from this time and then placed a block on players being able to top up their Entropay accounts using debit cards, or bank transfers. Players were also asked to withdraw or spend any remaining money in their account by 24th April 2019.
Entropay was not perfect and this payment method did have its flaws. The main issue players had with this payment method was the large fees that came along with using it as it seemed to add on charges for a lot of transactions including money coming in to the account, leaving the account and even if you were not using your account and it was inactive for a certain length of time.
There are still plenty of other great payment options available to players and you can read more about them right here at Just Slots. We would suggest looking at other fantastic e-wallet options such as Neteller and PayPal as these are great for both depositing and withdrawing cash, security and making instant payments.
|An e-wallet like PayPal allows you to make instant deposits to your online casino account just like Entropay||E-wallets such as Neteller are extremely secure and reputable worldwide, so you do not need to worry about the safety of your personal details or cash when using them|
|Entropay had a lot of fees attached to it. Other e-wallets like Neteller do have fees, but they are not as high as Entropay||When you use one of these e-wallets, or even another payment option such as a bank transfer or debit card, you can also withdraw your cash with these methods and will not have to find an alternative way to withdraw winnings which is the case with many payment options|
Below you can get the answers to some of the most asked questions that we hear from players about Entropay online casinos.
How safe is this payment method?
You can play at Entropay casinos with complete peace of mind as they are regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority. What’s more, with this payment method you are able to create, and delete, bank cards in an instant, which massively reduces the threat of fraud and help to keep customers personal details secure.
Are there any commission fees?
There are fees associated with playing at an Entropay Casino. Although moving funds from your Entropay card to your online casino account is completed at no cost to you, you will be charged for topping up your Entropay card with cash and using a debit card will hit you with a charge. There is no charge to open an account with Entropay, but when transferring money from your bank account to Entropay this could be anywhere between 4% and 5%.
Players will not be charged any over limit fees, interest fees, bank fees or late repayment charges when they use Entropay.
Withdrawals will also cost you when you are using Entropay. This usually costs a few pounds for UK players, but be sure to check this out with the online casino that you are playing at as you do not want to be caught out with extremely high fees, no matter what payment method you are using.
How long do withdrawals and deposits take?
Players will be happy to hear that it is very quick to load cash onto their Entropay card and you can do this instantly using your debit card. We would not recommend using a bank transfer to top up your Entropay account as this can take up to seven working days. Transferring money from your Entropay account to your bank account or card can take as long as three working days to process.
What are the minimum and maximum amounts I can deposit through it?
The minimum and maximum fees that you could deposit at an online casino using Entropay varied from casino to casino and this was something that you could find in their payment terms and conditions.
If I deposit with this payment method, do I have to use it for withdrawals as well?
If you made a deposit using Entropay, you did not have to use it to make your withdrawals. However, withdrawals could be made with Entropay and you had this as an option alongside any other payment methods that were on offer at the online casino you were playing at.
The good news is that there are still plenty of other payment options for players to choose from at online casinos like Neteller, Skrill and Trustly. Check out the reviews we have of these payment options so you can decide which one will be best for you now that Entropay is no longer a viable option.
