Comprehensive List of Betsoft Slots Sites

Betsoft are one of the longest-established online casino software providers in the wagering realm, but they are also one of the most controversial. Currently, Betsoft does not have a UKGC licence which means that games played on Betsoft’s servers cannot be offered to casino players in the UK.

There are ways that players in the UK can legally play Betsoft’s games, though, as long as the casino offers them (beyond Betsoft’s servers) and are covered by a UKGC licence. It seems likely that Betsoft – who have cleaned up their act in recent years – will apply for a UKGC licence soon meaning their games in the UK will be a lot easier to play.

Who are Betsoft?

Betsoft were founded in 2008 in Valetta, the capital of Malta. At the time, online video slots still resembled the kind of video slots that had been around in Las Vegas since the late 1980s. Betsoft was created with the idea of taking video slots to a new level.

In 2010 Betsoft unleashed their Slots3 framework and created slots that were genuinely exciting and had outstanding graphics the likes of which had rarely been seen before. One thing was certain, Betsoft were a new and exciting name in the online casino field.

But then things started to go a little awry. In 2010 a flaw was found in a version of Betsoft’s Keno game that meant it wasn’t running truly randomly, and some online casinos had taken advantage of this. In 2014 the Alderney Gambling Control Commission revoked Betsoft’s licence with them. Reasons were never made public, but it was thought connected to Betsoft’s ‘blind eye’ acceptance of US-based players. In 2016 Betsoft created a lot of adverse press for themselves by refusing to pay out a progressive jackpot, claiming that as the winning spins was a bonus spin, the player was ineligible for the jackpot. Betsoft eventually settled with the player.

Since 2016 though Betsoft have suffered no further reputational blows, so perhaps they have learned their lesson?

What Makes Betsoft Unique?

Betsoft are a company who have always created their own software platforms as opposed to relying on a platform created by a different vendor. From the off, Betsoft intended to create games with stunning 3D-style graphics, so they created their Slots3 framework to do just that. They also were quick to realise the potential for mobile gaming, so they created a Flash-based platform for mobiles called ToGo.

Since 2015, HTML5 has been around and is the software system of choice for countless web-based applications, including slots. As HTML5 works ‘out of the box’ for desktops, laptops and mobiles, it made sense for Betsoft to come up with an HTML5 framework. They did so and created Shift. These days all Betsoft’s titles are created using Shift, meaning that all their games work natively on any device capable of rendering a web page.

What Could Betsoft Do Better?

For a start Betsoft could apply for a UKGC licence as that would make it easier for players in the UK to play their excellent titles. The UK is a leading European market, so it doesn’t seem to make any sense that the people in charge of Betsoft are ignoring it.

Secondly, Betsoft needs to put their ‘shady’ past behind them, and there are signs that they are doing just that. Other companies such as Pragmatic Play have recovered from mistakes that have been made, so there’s no reason that Betsoft cannot.

Three of the Best – Betsoft Games

4 Seasons

4 seasons slot review

You may feel that ‘4 Seasons’ may pay homage to Vivaldi, writer of those four classic violin pieces that everyone knows, but you would not be correct.

This is a Chinese-themed slot that is based around the Chinese zodiac. Each sign is represented by a cuddly and cute character, although the dragon character still looks a little bit fearsome.

The main motif of this game is that every ninety spins the season changes and so do the graphics and features.

This popular slot could probably be best described as Betsoft’s homage to Eyecon’s Fluffy Favourites.

Boomanji

Boomanji slot review

Boomanji was one of the first games put out by Betsoft on their Slot3 platform and it is one that quickly became very popular. The ‘boom’ here is put in place by a series of fiery fireworks that more than add a little bit of sparkle to the reels.

By lining up identical fireworks players are able to create colourful explosions and rewarding cash payouts. Certain symbols could also land that would turn the entire reel wild and trigger a free respins.

In addition, sparks could fly from some fireworks and set a few others off in a triggered explosion. One of Betsoft’s best and still one of their most popular.

The True Sheriff

The True Sheriff slot review

It seems a law that every online slots provider must include at least one Wild West-themed slot within their repertoire, and Betsoft are no exception.

Complete with an authentic Western soundtrack and graphics that are up to Betsoft’s usual high standards, this game wowed slotting fans as soon as it appeared in 2018.

The star of the game is the straight-shooting sheriff himself. Whenever a revolver symbol lands upon the reels the sheriff will start hip-firing at the playing grid and whichever symbols he hits into wilds.

FAQs

Q. Why can’t I play Betsoft Games? I am based in the UK.

A. Because Betsoft does not have a UK Gambling Commission licence.

Q. What is Betsoft’s Slots3?

A. It was the Flash-based technology they used to create impressive slots with 3D-style graphics. It has since been superseded by the more mobile-friendly, HTML5-based software package SHIFT.

Q. Do Betsoft just make slots?

A. Not at all! They have many table games too, from common one like roulette and blackjack to uncommon ones such as Three Card Rummy and Red Dog. They also make video poker titles in many varieties too, including multi-hand games where you can play up to one hundred hands at once!

The Bottom Line

Betsoft and the United Kingdom are not the best of friends at the moment, which is a shame as players in the UK are missing out on a range of truly magnificent games from one of the best slots developers in the world.

Hopefully the company will think to apply for a UKGC licence soon, and UK players can once again enjoy great games such as the three listed above, plus other magnificent titles like Good Girl Bad Girl, Under the Bed and Pinocchio.
