Comprehensive List of Iron Dog Studio Slots Sites

While some online developers bark loudly whenever they release a new title, others are a little more softly spoken. One of the more successful smaller studios within the online slotting realm is Iron Dog Studio. This studio is part of the 1X2 Network and seems to share office space with its sister company 1X2 Gaming.

Although details are sketchy, it could be that Iron Dog Studio and 1X2 Gaming are simply different brands of the 1X2 Network. Iron Dog Studio seems to concentrate upon slots, casino games and scratchcards, while 1X2 Gaming is more about virtual sports betting applications.

Who are Iron Dog Studio?

If you’ve missed Iron Dog Studio as the providers of online slot games, then that’s probably because the company have only been in business since 2017. Not a great deal is known about how they came about to be, but is seems likely they were created as an off-shoot of 1X2 Gaming under the 1X2 Network. Both these companies share the same premises in the English seaside town of Hove.

Iron Dog Studio did not start with slots at all, but instead versions of baccarat, blackjack and roulette. All three games boasted of ‘an immersive gaming experience’ but in truth looked like any standard RNG-based casino game.

The studio released two slots early in their history – Rainbow Wilds and Viking Wilds – but when neither of these caused much excitement they turned to Big Time Gaming and leased their Megaways concept. It was applied to ‘Pirate Kingdom’ to create the studio’s first successful title.

As well as slots and casino games you will find Iron Dog Studios scratch cards at many online casinos. Two of these games are based on Iron Dog’s early slots Rainbow Wilds and Viking Wilds, but the majority of them are unique titles.

Since the end of 2019 Iron Dog Studio seem to have switched to slots alone as no new scratch cards or casino games have emerged from them since then.

What Makes Iron Dog Studio Unique?

The most successful concept that Iron Dog Studio has come up with is the award-winning ‘Branded’ Megaways concept. This is basically a ‘white label’ Megaways slot that any online casino can sign up for and use. The casino simply applies its own imagery where required for the slot, to create a Megaways slot that seems as if they have created it themselves.

Among the casinos that now have their own, branded version of a Megaways slot are Royal Panda, Interwetten, BGO, Betsafe, Betsson, Red Queen, Betshop Girls, Novibet Ladies, Novibet, Betshop, Star Casino, Betfred, Planetwin365 and Casino Euro.

What Could Iron Dog Studio Do Better?

Iron Dog Studio are not the most prolific of software providers, but the rate of frequency of their releases does seem to be on the up. In 2020 their autumn release Crown of Avalon was scheduled for October, six weeks or so after their previous release 1 Million Megaways BC.

It would be nice to see more slots from them that do not rely upon the Megaways concept. Aside from ‘Branded’ Megaways and ‘VIP Branded’ Megaways there’s the aforementioned 1 Million Megaways BC, Megaways Jack and Pirate Kingdom Megaways. Those titles represent around fifty percent of their slotting output.

Three of the Best – Iron Dog Studio Games

1 Million Megaways BC

1 Million Megaways BC Online Slot

Many moons ago the highest number of paylines a slot could muster was 243 for an ‘all ways’ pay 5×3 slot. Then 5×4 slots came along and raised that number to 1,024.

Then Big Time Gaming unleashed their Megaways concept and upped that max number to 117,649. And now Iron Dog Studios have raised the bar even higher – 1,058,841 ways to win!

This max number of paylines is achieved when a ‘mammoth reel’ is added to the centre of the playing arena.

This gives a 7-7-7-9-7-7-7 grid which generates those one million plus paylines. A mammoth of a slot in every possible way.

Megaways Jack

Megaways Jack Slot Review

Online slots providers have always turned to fairy tales to inspire their slotting output, and Iron Dog Studio are no different.

Here the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk gets another slotting makeover, and this time with the Megaways concept added. Here players can follow the simple Jack into the clouds where fabulous riches are available to be won.

Just like Jack players should be on the lookout for some magic beans which may unleash the ‘Lock-it-Reel’ and up the number of paylines to 117,649. This slot has the ability to generate max prizes worth up to 25,000 times a player’s bet.

Crown of Avalon

Crown of Avalon Slot Review

When slots providers are using nursery rhymes as the theme to their slots, they are usually turning to myths and legends. With this game it’s time to visit King Arthur again, the most famous mythical English king.

The main purpose of this game for the player is a hunt for the Crown of Avalon itself. Locate three and free spins shall be your reward!

Not only is King Arthur in evidence during this game so are his usual cohorts, Merlin the mystical magician and sorceress Morgana. This game has wilds, scatters and a max win up to 5,100 times the player’s stake.

Q. Why ‘Iron Dog’ Studios?

A. We don’t know. The only major reference to ‘Iron Dog’ is the name of a race held in Alaska each year, so we have now idea what (if any) connection that has to a software company based in Brighton.

Q. What’s the connection between Iron Dog Studios and 1X2 Gaming?

A. Both are brands of the 1X2 Network. 1X2 Gaming is a more versatile brand with slots, casino games and virtual sports, while Iron Dog Studios concentrates almost exclusively on slots.

Q. Why is Hove (where Iron Dog Studios are based) so associated with Brighton?

A. Brighton and Hove were adjacent towns that grew so big they grew into each other. In 2001 ‘Brighton and Hove’ was designated as a single city in the UK.

The Bottom Line

It is always very tough for a smaller software studio to make a name for themselves. There are some massive names in the industry, such as NetEnt and Microgaming. Brands such as Iron Dog Studio simply do not have the resources to compete in the same environment.

Small studios tend to adopt different strategies in order to get their titles noticed and it’s clear the strategy that Iron Dog Studios have gone for – a semi-steady release of many top slotting titles with high quality graphics and decent gameplay. Let’s hope it’s a strategy that works for them and that we seem more very payable titles from them in the future.
